Vila Nova da Barquinha has in its natural patrimony, namely in the Tagus River, its greatest wealth, or the river was connected to its history and people throughout the centuries. A stroll along the riverfront park in the village, a late afternoon stroll on a terrace by the Tancos pier or a walk along the banks of the Tagus River up to the Almourol Castle will allow you to relax and enjoy all the calm and serenity of this village.
Sports and Adventure
As a way to get to know the region and enjoy all the natural heritage nothing better than a BTT ride through the trails on the margins of the Zêzere and Tejo Rivers, a kayake or canoe descent, a unique ballooning experience, a pedestrian ride through Paúl do Boquilobo in Golegã, an all-terrain vehicle ride or a horse ride through the village of Golegã.

As a riverside municipality, Vila Nova da Barquinha has in the Tagus River its source and inspiration. The typical gastronomy includes Caldeiradas (fish stews), Sopa de Peixe do Rio (river fish soup), Barbos (pork roe), Fataça (fataça), Açorda de Sável (shad stew), Arroz de Lampreia (lamprey rice) and Enguias (eels).
